Vice President, Total Rewards


This is a Full-time position in Herndon, VA posted November 21, 2021.

Peraton is seeking an industry leading Vice President, Total Rewards with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion to Do The Can’t Be Done.

Reporting to the CHRO, the VP Total Rewards will act as a strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team to ensure all compensation (executive and broad-based) and benefits programs align with the strategic goals of the organization.

As the functional leader, the Total Rewards executive will direct the planning, design, implementation, maintenance and administration of all compensation and benefits programs to support the achievement of Peraton’s business objectives.

This leader will be committed to driving innovation and creating an atmosphere that supports new ideas and initiative.

Must possess a strong executive presence as they will interact extensively with the senior level leaders of the company.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
Design, develop, deliver and maintain a competitive and compelling Total Rewards Strategy that balances market dynamics, employee preferences, investment optimization, affordability and employee well being
Conceptualize and drive Total Rewards Philosophy and guiding principles aligned and integrated with the company culture and business strategy, while ensuring equitable pay practices across the entire organization
Set the vision for, design and develop, a comprehensive Benefits offering that meets the company’s competitive needs, fostering the creation of a healthy work environment
Create a high performing benefits administration capability that ensures compliance with benefits related laws and regulations and a favorable employee experience
Develop and manage Compensation Administration policies, procedures and annual cycle processes to facilitate effective cost management and good governance over compensation programs
Manage Job Architecture program that supports organization design, job leveling, title architecture, spans and layers, salary structures and career pathing
Design, implement and manage Incentive Compensation plans that inspire performance, align with financial and strategic objectives and ensure competitive total compensation opportunity based on performance
Manage key Vendor Relationships and ensure cost effective administration, SLA performance and continuously drive improved service levels to the company and employees
Lead a dynamic team of compensation and benefit subject matter specialists
Foster a culture of individual and team development and growth and provide a culture of trust and empowerment across the entire team
Develop and build influential relationships with key operational business and functional leaders so that strategies reflect the needs of clients
Work closely with finance leaders, as appropriate, to ensure effective decision-making, budget, and execution of total rewards programs
In partnership with the HR Leadership Team, build and deliver training and communications to support the total rewards philosophy and delivery
Partner with HR and sector colleagues to develop and implement strategies to attract, engage and retain talent
Strategically partner with CHRO and HR leadership team colleagues on compensation best practices and components of M&A activity regarding due diligence, retention, assessment, and integration
Work to ensure employees and leaders understand and value of the total rewards offered by Peraton and their choices to optimize these rewards to meet their individual needs
Lead compensation and benefits due diligence and integration activity associated with M&A efforts
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
16+ years of relevant experience, preferably in both sector and corporate roles.

In depth technical competency in executive compensation, broad-based compensation and benefits (health & welfare, 401k plans, pension plans)
Experience managing total rewards programs serving over 10,000 employees or greater
Proven experience integrating compensation and benefits programs resulting from M&A
Strong math aptitude comfortable with building financial models and budgets for total rewards programs
Experience managing expats and international total rewards programs
A highly effective communicator with the ability to work with all levels and functions within the organization.

Able to drive projects and analysis to closure in a matrixed environment
A collaborator and creative, critical thinker who finds win-win solutions to business challenges that support business growth
Strong demonstrated business acumen with experience in developing innovative solutions and a successful record of problem-solving
High integrity with strong organizational, management, training and development experience and strong interpersonal skills
Comfortable managing hybrid teams that will work in the office and remote
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a Private Equity Portfolio Company and Public Company environment
Exceptional executive presence and presentation skills
Experience working with the Compensation Committee and Board
Aerospace & Defense and/or Government Contracting industry experience
Experience developing and leading a team with a tactful and participative management style
Entrepreneurial focus and ability to thrive and excel in a dynamic and technically focused environment. 
Working knowledge of Service Contracts Act (SCA) and experience working with Collective Bargaining Units
Experience working with Workday as HCM & Fidelity as 401k administrator
Ability to drive collaboration between management and functional counterparts.
