Survey Manager/Professional Land Surveyor


This is a Full-time position in Lexington, VA posted February 20, 2021.

JOB SUMMARY n n Qualifications shall consist of previous pipeline survey experience as a Survey Manager or Supervisor, be familiar with pipeline construction practices, and be proficient with the utilization of GPS electronic survey data collection units and conventional survey equipment.

n n In directing the survey effort, the Survey Manager shall report directly to the Survey Project Director or (project specific named person) for pipeline survey related matters and the responsible professional land surveyor for boundary related issues.

Survey Manager’s typical duties and responsibilities can include overseeing the Survey Department and the following duties: n nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE JOB n Meets daily with Crew Chiefs to discuss current projects, problems that need addressing, and then assigns work load.

Reviews completed projects with individual Crew Chiefs.

Prioritizes and assigns survey requests as they are received.

Performs detailed evaluation of completed projects and returns to Project Manager.

Interprets field notes to determine if more information is required to complete project.

Researches Survey Department records to collect project information.

Final review of daily survey requests to determine and assign next day’s work load.

Reviews time sheets for accuracy and signs off on.

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training Survey Crew Staff.

Lays off/dismisses staff when applicable.

Handles personnel issues and is responsible for corrective action procedures.

Be available for travel and working at project sites when necessary.

Ability to produce project price quotes to clients.

n nOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES n Possess the necessary computer skills to download data collectors (Trimble TSC2) using the Trimble Geomatics office suite and the Trimble Pathfinder office suite, review and provide a quality control function on said data.

Facilitate data transfer, progress reporting and electronic timekeeping.

Possess a detailed knowledge and expertise of the various GPS equipment.

Oversee transmittal of notes and data Coordinate with Tech to ensure the completion and integrity of the survey.

The Survey Manager shall adhere to and follow all of EnSiteUSA safety requirements, safety requirements of the client and individual project, follow any and all environmental requirements of the client and specific project requirements.

Ensure a safe working environment for the office and field personnel under their supervision and is to stop work when safety is jeopardized until it is secured again.

n nEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS n Kentucky Land Surveyor license preferred Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.

Must keep current on new Survey equipment and software.

A proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.

Basic Supervisory experience.

Must have excellent communication skills.

Ability to work in highly stressful conditions.

n nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS n possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, shall be required to pass DOT mandated Operator Qualifications (OQ), shall be required to take and pass DOT mandated drug testing and subsequent random testing as required.
