Verisign, a global provider of domain name registry services and internet infrastructure, enables internet navigation for many of the world’s most recognized domain names. Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director – Technology Asset Management. The Director – Technology Asset Management is responsible for oversight of global IT asset management for the organization. This role is responsible for assisting in the development, support and execution of initiatives that maximize the value of technology asset investment while working with peers across organizations in corporate and production environments to ensure and improve the security and stability of Verisign’s network and information assets. This position provides support to the Senior Director of IT Service Delivery and the CIO and is expected to provide technical strategic and tactical direction to the organization on all initiatives and day to day activities related to Technology Asset Management, while helping harmonize roadmaps across Verisign and highlight completed team efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Develops and assists in the implementation of Verisign’s Technology Asset Management strategies, policies, standards and practices. Ensure tools and processes are in place to effectively manage Verisign’s assets. These include: HW assets, SW Assets, License management, IP Assets, Tool Oversight, Compliance oversight etc.)
  • HW/SW/Renewals licensing and maintenance contracts: Provides direct management oversight to a team that manages software and hardware licensing and maintenance contracts for corporate and production environments, assisting in the long-term goal of reducing related operating expenses, while increasing efficiencies and capabilities. Ensures compliance to both software and hardware contract and licensing requirements.
  • Process: Establishes best practices for technology asset management as it relates to software, hardware and inventory management. Provides tactical support in assurance of compliance to policies and standards. Specific examples include: HW/SW inventory control, IP Assets, distribution of security components/tools, enforcement of authorized use policies, third party software patch management, end of life / support, asset discovery and software licensing. (e.g., asset owner, usage restrictions, export compliance, service, and support periods, decommission schedules, etc.)
  • Tool/Systems oversight: Works closely with management and stakeholders in other functional areas to identify solutions, enhancements, integrations and automation of systems, processes, and reporting, while ensuring the security, stability and appropriate diversity of systems and software. Assists the development teams to ensure all technical implications are considered and vetted prior to implementation.
  • Oversees execution of both procedural and technical solutions that account for and manages the inventory of hardware/software and all associated information (e.g., asset owner, usage restrictions, import/export compliance, shipping forms, service and support periods, decommission schedules, etc.) throughout its lifecycle, along with systems builds and coordinated shipment to domestic and international sites.Warehouse management to include shipping and receiving of Verisign assets, physical inventory control and coordination of assets scheduled for destruction.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Provides tactical support and direction to enable active management and continuous monitoring of all hardware devices and software on the corporate and production networks/systems so that only authorized devices and software are given access and can execute according to defined acceptable use policy. Ensure tools and processes are incorporated into the company which enables IT and Infosec systems to identify unauthorized devices and software and prevent them from executing or gaining access.


  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree – Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience required Graduate Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Relevant Experience 10 years of related experience in Asset Management required
  • 4 years of people management experience required
