Day Shift Supervisor

Ancos

This is a Contract position in Prince George, VA posted November 20, 2021.

Position Summary: The Operation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day to day operations of Ancos Disputanta, VA facility. This individual is responsible for leading the team and ensuring the site is generating safe and quality production. An individual that will be successful in this position is a strong leader with excellent problem-solving skills that is excited about an opportunity to lead the growth of a new plant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Leadership

  • Serves as day-to-day supervisor for manufacturing and primary point of contact for the Director of Operations
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts for the site, including documentation and tracking of all Daily Management metrics
  • Serves as lead for setting a structured approach to solving all problems at the site, whether they are operations, quality, people or maintenance-oriented problems
  • Supervises all operators and maintenance for the site
  • Operations
  • Ensures training of operators is current and thorough at all times
  • Fully trained on operations of the processing equipment and all lab equipment
  • Shipping & receiving
  • Oversees site logistics, including shipping and receiving at the site
  • Coordinates details with the customer service and logistics team based in Disputanta
  • Supports logistics required to load or unload product when necessary
  • Quality & Safety
  • Coordinates quality initiatives for the site, working closely with the Quality & Safety Engineer
  • Implements quality policies and overall improvement efforts
  • Gathers data as necessary for quality initiatives
  • Supports safety initiatives for the site, working closely with the Quality & Safety Engineer

Education/Experience:

· Ideally 4-6 years’ experience as a Supervisor, Management or Team Lead in a manufacturing setting

· Experience working in a continuous improvement-oriented culture

· Bachelors or associate degree strongly preferred

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

· Experience leading others and making independent decisions

Language Ability:

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Ability:

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Ability to independently use computer for Microsoft NAV, word processing, spreadsheets, email and other functions. Ability to utilize computer programs to create spreadsheets to track data and perform calculations of moderate complexity.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising all Ancos employees on site at the Darlington facility, including but not limited to operators, maintenance and logistics. Responsible for the leadership and development of these individuals and ensuring the operations is effective and efficient.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of a manufacturing job. This role requires ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes) at all times in the production area. Employees must wear hardhats and safety shoes at all times.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role requires standing for extended periods of time, ability to lift 50 lbs, identify colors and work in open air & outdoor areas.
