The Red Hat Public Sector team is looking for a Business Development Manager to join us in Tysons Corner, VA to enable and grow our Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) portfolio. In this role, your primary focus will be on customer mission. You will need proven capability to collaborate with an ecosystem of federal system integrators (SIs) and partners. IYou will plan, motivate, and maintain our annual growth through the positioning and closing of larger programs. You’ll identify key SIs in your region and develop partnerships through programs within the government and their infrastructure that promotes the sales of our services and solutions. As a Business Development Manager, you’ll need to have a balance of sales expertise and communication skills because you’ll work with internal stakeholders, government customers, and financial services industries (FSIs) to participate in and oversee the development of our sales pipeline.

  • Provide technical support and sell Red Hat’s solutions and value
  • Maintain relationships at the appropriate business development and capture professionals within appropriate FSIs
  • Facilitate and maintain project management meetings and training, executive-to-executive meetings, and Executive Briefing Center (EBC) meetings
  • Establish quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
  • Maintain pipeline, own sales stages, opportunity vetting, win strategy, teaming, gate reviews, and executive review board documentation and delivery
  • Produce invites to the summit and Red Hat events
  • Support speaking engagements
  • Build a one-on-one relationship with product managers, chief information officers (CIO), and executives
  • Educate the customers on the combined capability of the Red Hat partner ecosystem to help meet mission objectives
  • Gather market intelligence in the effort to maintain the best and most relevant pipeline
  • Work programs across DHS and DOJ through in-depth understanding of the customer mission
  • Prepare non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), teaming agreements, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, and bid win strategies
  • Work with Capture, Bids, and Proposals team to respond to requests for proposal (RFPs), requests for quotation (RFQs), and requests for information (RFIs)

  • 10+ years of related business development experience in the public sector
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent; further education is a plus
  • Good judgment skills to evaluate intangibles and resolve complex sales-related issues
  • Ability to coordinate necessary internal and external groups to create business plans
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills in the effort to manage and report on the status of multiple complex programs
  • Ability to work within a Shipley process for large program capture, with extensive ability to convey detailed messaging, writing for both internal and external consumption
  • Excellent people management skills to oversee team activities and ensure that they align with strategic plans
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and independent software vendors (ISVs)
  • Relationships within the federal SI community
  • Thorough understanding of federal contracts and regulations
