Senior Radar Engineer

This is a Full-time position in Dahlgren, VA posted May 3, 2021.

ECS is seeking a Senior Radar Engineer to work in our Dahlgren, VA office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Job Description:
Radar Systems Engineering Tasks:

  • Participate in G/ATOR IPTs, Working Groups (WG), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) such as: Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT), Software Development and Test, System Architect’s Meeting, Data Analysis Working Group (DAWG), Software Configuration Control Board (SCCB), System Problem Report (SPR) Review, Risk Assessment, program reviews, and Chief Engineer (CHENG) Staff Meetings.
  • Provide recommendations to chairman of Software Configuration Control Board (SCCB).
  • Review system requirement changes, problem reports, and engineering requests to assess impact on system performance, contract scope, and schedule.
  • Analyze system and software test data to evaluate performance and recommend improvements and resolution for deficiencies.
  • Review software and systems documentation.
  • Evaluate test plans, participate in system and software level testing, review test reports and provide assessment and recommendations to the government team.
  • Develop test scenarios, test plans, test procedures, and reports for government led test events.
  • Travel to test sites to execute tests for government led test events.
  • Develop and utilize data analysis tools to evaluate radar performance in areas such as: radar coverage volume, track continuity, false track, false detections, track initiation, detection processing, pulse compression, digital beamforming, response to jammers, cancelation of clutter, and phased array antenna patterns.
  • Participate in Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) activities and meetings.

Software Engineering Tasks:

  • Participate in G/ATOR IPTs, Working Groups (WG), and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) such as: Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT), Software Development and Test, Data Analysis Working Group (DAWG), Software Configuration Control Board (SCCB), System Problem Report (SPR) Review, Risk Assessment, Reliability WG, Cyber Security WG, Logistics WG, program reviews, and Chief Engineer (CHENG) Staff Meetings.
  • Provide recommendations to chairman of Software Configuration Control Board (SCCB).
  • Review software requirement changes, problem reports, and engineering requests to assess impact on system performance, contract scope, and schedule.
  • Analyze system and software test data to evaluate performance and recommend improvements and resolution for deficiencies.
  • Review software and systems documentation.
  • Evaluate test plans, participate in system and software level testing, review test reports and provide assessment and recommendations to the government team.
  • Develop test scenarios, test plans, test procedures, and reports for government led test events.
  • Participate in regression testing and evaluate performance for new software releases.
  • Develop software for Enhanced Radar Data Display System (ERDDS) to record
  • data and display radar data during test events.
  • Develop software for G/ATOR CSCIs as Dahlgren takes them over.
  • Develop software for G/ATOR Special Training System (STS).

Required Skills:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • DoD Secret Clearance Required
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree from a school of engineering or from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics
    • 15+ years of experience (BS degree)
    • 12+ years of experience (MS degree)
    • 8+ years of experience (PhD degree)
  • Experience in software development, systems engineering, and collaborating with equipment/hardware design engineers in the planning, design, development and utilization of software.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in radar software development.
  • Solid technical background as demonstrated by certifiable experience formulating opinions, decisions and ultimate performance of the tasks specified below.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to perform detailed and complex calculations and knowledge of practices/principles necessary to assess advanced radar systems concepts, assess specifications and perform system software integration.

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced in working with Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interface (APIs).
  • Experience building and coding software in Python, C/C++, and other programming languages.
  • Matlab experience.
