HDRs Commissioning Practice is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team in either Charlotte or Raleigh, NC.

Our Senior Engineers are expected to see that our commissioning business operates efficiently and the processes involved in the commissioning of engineering services systems have been safely, diligently and accurately planned, managed, executed and recorded.

Additionally, they must ensure that obligations in managing our people and our clients are discharged.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Acting as a key point of client contact
  • Taking an active and purposeful role in identifying opportunities and in developing innovative tender solutions, documents and fees
  • Promoting the company’s technical abilities through thought leadership programs
  • Making full use of the company’s management systems in achieving the primary objective
  • Proactively progress commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the general contractor and vendors
  • By diligent management of the commissioning process see that systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with the design requirements
  • Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programs, scopes of work, test scripts and the like
  • Leading, managing and mentoring junior staff

In addition to working closely with many different members of a construction project team at site level this role involves building internal relationships and undertaking management activities that help manage the company efficiently.

It requires the ability to think and communicate clearly, to remain focused and to lead construction delivery staff and office team members whilst remaining motivated during fast moving periods of complex activity.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of related Commissioning industry experience as a Project Manager and/or Commissioning Manager
  • This position is subject to a governmental background check; due to client contract requirements only candidates with US citizenship will be considered for this position as permitted pursuant to section 274B(a)(2)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE license preferred; candidates without their PE will be titled ‘Senior Commissioning Agent’
  • LEED AP or LEED Associate preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline or related field preferred
  • Local candidates are preferred
