Field Service Engineer

This is a Full-time position in Chantilly, VA posted February 22, 2021.

ECS is seeking a Field Service Engineer to work in our Chantilly, VA office.

Job Description:

  • Deploy to remote locations with an operational system to provide immediate technical support 24/7 during the deployment. (Double pay during deployment. Straight time at 12 hours/day, 7 days a week, for 84 hours/week vs 40 hours/week when not deployed.)
  • Investigate and resolve application functionality related issues and provide first level support and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing systems to meet changing user requirements.
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guides, etc.
  • Produce technical documentation for new and existing applications.
  • Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for new development projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations to support and enhance existing systems.
  • Provide on-site field support up to 4-5 times per year in Colorado and New Mexico

Required Skills:

  • Current TOP SECRET security clearance required.
  • BS in EE, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or 5 years of relevant electronic/computer field-service support.
  • This position deploys to remote operational locations up to two times per year for 45-50 days per deployment. Double pay while deployed.
  • Capability of preparing operating instructions, analyzing system capabilities and resolving questions about system software.
  • Possess expert knowledge of networking, open system standards and deployment technologies and must be able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Additional travel to Colorado and New Mexico up to 4-6 times per year.
  • Due to the requirement to provide hardware troubleshooting and repair support in austere locations, the candidate must be able bodied and able to lift up to 50 lbs

Desired Skills:

  • Current SCI access desired
  • Technical experience providing research and collaboration with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development and utilization of computer systems.
  • Familiar with communications over networks and interfaces with clients and servers.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of security, information assurance concerns, cryptographic techniques and how they work.
  • Experienced in working with Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interface (APIs).
