Energy & Sustainability Analyst

This is a Contract position in Leesburg, VA posted November 19, 2021.

The Building People, LLC, has an opening for an Energy and Sustainability Analyst. The Analyst will be responsible for conducting and/or assisting environmental and/or energy audits. The Analyst will be responsible for overseeing, inputting, managing, and ensuring all required energy and environmental data is maintained in assigned databases. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability related disciplines. The ideal candidates will be familiar with federal environmental and energy mandates, have adequate experience in the disciplines below, and will have experience in providing trainings in these fields.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with a team

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Conduct environmental compliance and energy audits per federal requirements

  • Develop and implement training, policy, and guidance for onsite staff

  • Provide regulatory analysis of environmental management issues

  • Develop graphics and communication materials and strategies to support environmental and sustainable objectives both with internal and external partners.

  • Coordinate congressional reporting responses related to compliance, sustainability, and environmental matters.

  • ASHRAE Certification and ability to perform ASHRAE Level I and II audits

  • Certified Energy Manager Certification

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the skillsets described above

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Familiarity with federal environmental and energy policy requirements

  • Familiarity with major building systems and federal real property procedures

  • Familiarity with GHG reporting and carbon front print modeling

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Preferred Education

  • LEED familiarity or Accredited Professional

  • Professional Engineering Degree

Place of Performance & Travel

  • The position is primarily remote but will require the ability to travel to conduct onsite audits and attend meetings/conferences as required.

  • The team is based in the Washington DC area, and the candidate will need to be able to attend an in-person meeting within a 2-day notice.

  • Additional background checks required subject to system access

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
