About the Role

As a Communications and Marketing Associate, you’ll be a critical member of a fast-growing team. You’ll work closely with leaders across the company and around the world to ensure we’re keeping everyone in the know as we scale up. While we value precision and clarity in communications, we also like to keep things fun and facilitate an inclusive environment, and want you to help grow it. The best communications aren’t just top-down, so we want you to support and encourage a culture of information sharing throughout the organization. Successful candidates should be energized by getting to know people, their role in teams, and making connections across those teams to encourage collaboration and innovation.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security clearance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Coordinate and support RII’s internal communications rhythms and mechanisms, including our All Hands meetings and editing/assembling our company newsletter
  • Facilitate open internal communications across our offices and remote employees by managing our digital signage, which is displayed on office TVs and through Slack
  • Draft and edit strategic communications for internal and external audiences
  • Own and maintain RII’s collection of visual assets and communications archives
  • Draft press releases and coordinate their publication and dissemination
  • Coordinate our external communications calendar in support of brand awareness and recruiting efforts
  • Collaborate with recruiting and marketing teams to generate content for multiple platforms, including RII’s website, LinkedIn, Instagram, and RII’s blog
  • Position RII as a great workplace to external audiences by seeking out and coordinating event sponsorships, awards, speaking events for subject matter experts, and developing relationships with local media to further expand our footprint
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate materials and giveaways in support of events like career fairs, volunteer events, and industry conferences 
  • Own and maintain website and social media metrics, media clips, and basic brand assets

GENERAL SKILLS

  • You should also have experience with one or more of these:
  • 2+ years of communications or equivalent experience, including copywriting and editing
  • Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills
  • Creativity and flexibility to communicate to a broad range of audiences using both written and visual media
  • Knowledge of ethics and best practices in marketing and communications
  • Experience with social media platforms, including campaigns 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Experience with design and layout software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Serif Suite (Affinity Designer, Photo, Publisher), Online design tools (Canva, Stencil)

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with or strong interest in the national security or technology industries
  • WYSIWYG web editor experience (Wix, Squarespace)
  • Digital asset and content management experience
  • Photography and/or videography experience
  • Knowledge of online marketing channels
  • Excellent pun skillz
