The Challenge:

In an industry where “Cloud” is sometimes synonymous with “genie,” it’s important to have someone on your team who knows how to engineer both hybrid, 3rd party, and external Cloud-based solutions.

That’s why we need you, an engineer who knows how hardware and software components fit together and integrate with Cloud-based resources, to help us deliver a platform to enable modernization of a DoD client’s network systems.

As a Platform Engineer on our team, you’ll leverage expertise in command-line interfaces (CLI) and SDKs to support mission-critical operations.

You’ll recommend tools and capabilities based on your research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premise, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid resources.

You’ll work with the client’s migration teams and Cloud architects to implement strategy and architecture design.

Additionally, you will lead the planning, designing and deployment of hybrid on-premise and cloud architecture solutions for use in a next-gen platform enabling data science and advanced analytics applications.

You will be working with a data engineering team to develop database architectures and technology stacks which are scalable, cost-effective, stable, and leverage cloud architectures, serving as a subject matter expert in the migration of on-premise applications into a cloud-based Kubernetes environment, collaborating with data science teams to design solutions using cloud native technologies that enable their services to be programmatically accessible in a reliable fashion by their customers, and coaching and mentoring junior and senior developers on how to develop high-quality code and innovate using the latest cloud technologies.

You Have:

-3+ years of experience in a software development, infrastructure, or Cloud operations role

-2+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or consulting with applications deployed in on-premise hybrid Cloud environments using technologies that include Hadoop or Cloudera and Cloud Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) and Cloud SDKs

-Experience with multiple operating systems, including UNIX and Windows-based operating systems

-Experience with networking administration, including DNS, subnets, firewalls, and ACLs

-Experience with designing and refining Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes

-Experience with automated patch management for both Windows
– and UNIX-based systems using configuration management tools, including Ansible

-Ability to show proficiency in programming languages, including C#, Java, or .NET

-TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree

-Security+ or CISSP Certification required

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or MilCloud 2.0

-Experience with applying DoD security technical implementation guides (STIGs) and automating that process

-Experience with Microsoft Identity Services, including Active Directory Domain Services, Federation Services, and associated identity management tools a plus

-Experience with working in defense or intelligence community Cloud environments a plus

-Experience with storage fundamentals, including CIFS and NFS and backup and disaster recovery processes a plus

-Experience with developing and managing machine images or templates to automate Cloud Deployments, including Infrastructure as Code (IAC)

-Experience with optimizing Cloud environments, including leveraging native Cloud capabilities, right-sizing servers, expanding storage, and tracking cost efficiencies at the application level

-Experience with configuring and aggregating logs for data analysis using Splunk or ELK solutions

-Experience with maintaining data transfer systems, including NIFI

-Knowledge of integrating kerberos into an ADS architecture to ensure establishment of proper controls, including integrating Active Directory, Sentry, and Kerberos

-Knowledge of FedRAMP, RMF, and the implications of C&A and SA&A in a DoD environment a plus
