Household Nurse RN (Full Time 12 hrs shift 7A-7P)


This is a Contract position in Williamsburg, VA posted April 2, 2020.

The Charge Nurse is responsible for the well being and nursing care of all residents assigned to him or her during the shift.

Reporting to the Supervisor, he or she carries out physician’s orders, assesses residents and notes any changes in condition, distributes and charts medications, distributes narcotics and manages the narcotic inventory, supervises the staff of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), and responds immediately to emergencies.

He or she acts as a role model and effective team member and is personally committed to enhance the lives of each resident by providing the highest quality of life possible.

The ideal candidate has graduated from an approved nursing program, holds a current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN), has some experience in long-term care, and has some management or supervisory experience.

Fluent English speaking and writing skills, empathy and the ability to listen, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position.

CB Responsibilities Responsible for the total nursing care of residents assigned during the tour of duty Stays knowledgeable of resident conditions and reports significant change to Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor and/or Physician Administers medications following all regulations and established policy and procedures Maintains and revises, as needed, nursing care plan of residents assigned Maintains current scheduled and controlled drug record following all federal and/or state laws Administers treatment according to Physicians’ orders Maintains resident clinical records following established policies and procedures Supervises and evaluates assigned geriatric Certified Nursing Assistants Maintains a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to the well being of the resident Qualifications Diploma in Nursing at a minimum; Bachelor’s degree preferred Current state license as a Registered Nurse Previous experience in a long-term care setting Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills as well as a passion tot he lives of older adults Knowledge of state and local regulations regarding long term care Communication and interpersonal skills to develop relationships with residents, staff, and providers Genuine desire to work with the elderly An up-beat and engaging personality Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm and be willing to perform non-professional duties Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, kneel, and stand as needed Benefits Health Insurance Dental Insurance Disability Insurance Retirement Savings Plan Paid Accrued Leave Supplemental Sick Leave Uniforms Provided Employee Assistance Program Smoke-free Work Environment Job Requirements:
