VETERAN SERVICES CLINICIAN Goochland Powhatan Community Services (GPCS) is seeking aFull Time Clinician to work with Veteran s and their families. The incumbent must be a licensedor licensed eligible mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc). The clinician s primaryresponsibility is to provide Outpatient therapy (individual, group, and family) to Veterans andtheir families who reside in Goochland and Powhatan counties. Experience with the Veteranpopulation preferred but not required. Supervision toward licensure is provided or arranged byGPCS. Successful candidates for this position must possess a thorough working knowledge ofthe DSM criteria and have experience working with persons with severe mental illness andserious emotional disturbance. This position will require excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills; proficient computer skills, including documentation in an electronichealth record; and the ability to makeindependent decisions with minimal supervision. Linesof supervision and reporting are as shown on the organizational chart._____________________________________________________________________________________Under supervision of the Outpatient Services Supervisor, this position is responsible forproviding counseling, treatment, and case management services to Veterans and theirfamilies experiencing mental health and substance abuse conditions. Services may beprovided in the office or in the community depending on consumer needs. This position is alicensed or licensed eligible position performing preliminary assessments of individualpsychiatric needs.JOB EXPECTATIONS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide outpatient mental health services to Veterans and their families. Provide outpatient services to Veterans with co-occurring disorders (both substanceuse/dependence and mental illness) as required. Assess and determine level of care need for mental health, substance use, and cooccurring disorders consumers. Assess, evaluate, and develop individualized service plan for consumer. Provide mental health education therapy and treatment to individual, groups, andfamilies. Make referrals when indicated to other GPCS programs as well as other communitybased resources. Monitor consumers use of therapeutic medications. Assure the confidentiality of protected health information as required by law andaccording to the GPCS confidentiality policies, state law, and in the Federal Drug andAlcohol Confidentiality Law, 42 CFR Part 2, as applicable. Provide information when necessary and clinically appropriate, with current and validauthorizations to release information concerning consumers attendance and progress intreatment to courts, criminal justice agencies, departments of Social Services, and otherentities that may be responsible for monitoring the consumer. Provide case management services for Veterans and their families. Maintain clinical documentation as required in the delivery of outpatient services (i.E., case notes, correspondence, psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, quarterlyprogress reports, etc.), entering information in the Electronic Health Record. Report direct service and other time spent in clinical activities in a timely manner. Make referrals when indicated of consumers needing psychiatric evaluation and nursingservices. Prepares intake, discharge and other reportable data for entry into Electronic HealthRecord in a timely manner. Provide crisis intervention services as available. Link consumers to other community resources and collaborates with other communityagencies as needed. Attend in-service training sessions, conferences, workshops, seminars, and continuingeducation for professional and program development in the delivery of Veterans services Establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, organizationsand agencies responsible for providing services to target population. Provide consultation and education services to other community organizations andindividuals. To perform other assigned duties as necessary within established policy andprocedures.REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONMaster s Degree, Licensed and/or eligible to become licensed as a ” Resident orSupervisee” under the clinical supervision per appropriate licensing board of a licensedprofessional counselor (18VAC115-20-10), licensed marriage and family therapist(18VAC115-50-10) or licensed substance abuse treatment practitioner (18VAC115-60-10) approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling; “Resident in psychology” undersupervision of a licensed clinical psychologist approved by the Virginia Board ofPsychology (18VAC125-20-10); “Supervisee insocial work” under the supervision of alicensed clinical social worker approved by the Virginia Board of Social Work(18VAC140-20-10).EXPERIENCETwo years clinical experience in mental health with knowledge and/or experience of cooccurring treatment that may include supervised clinical internships and field placementswith a provider of mental health and/or co-occurring disorders.
