– in particular military healthcare claims data
– from large tablesProvide SAS programming and technical expertise on statistical analysis, methods, and techniques for epidemiological or research studies.

Construct SAS programsReview SAS programs others have written for correctness and efficiencyFormulate analysis and data collection plansRoutinely explore existing databases and resources to identify opportunities to improve existing or create new productsOccasionally perform sample size, and power calculations and stratification and randomization of studiesMaintain responsibility for ensuring the statistical validity and epidemiological applicability of study activitiesLead conceptual development of data visualizations, applying your expertise to mock up different options based on your understanding of customer requirementsFunction as an expert in data visualization, engaging the project team, as necessary, to discuss data visualization options, recommendations, barriers to progress, etc.Develop healthcare data analysis visualizations and support data linkages to those visualizationsPerform coding and testing of data visualizations using open source or visualization tools, such as TableauDrive customer conversations around data design and analyticsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in technology, mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative disciplineExpertise and mastery of the SAS language and/or other statistical packages such as RExperience with SAS DATA Step Processing, SQL Processing, SAS Macro Language, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, Data Management with Large DatasetsMinimum 3 years’ experience:Writing and debugging programs in SASUsing business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Excel, Qlik Sense, or TableauIn Power BI, data management and API connectivity, data modeling and visualization in SQL, R, or Python, Tableau or other packaged BI solutions, or descriptive and predictive analyticsIn advanced analytical functions, including requirements analysis, identifying analytic insight in data, developing visualizations, and presenting findings to stakeholdersExperience with relational databases and knowledge of query tools and statistical softwareStrong analytical, organizational, presentation, and problem-solving skillsAbility to interact in cross-functional team meetings and professional environmentsExperience with Microsoft Office, including ExcelPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of requirements gathering, analysis, and data visualization techniquesAbility to manipulate and join data sets in easy to understand and memorable waysStrong understanding of medical data structures, including but not limited to International Statistical Classification of Diseases codes, Generic Product Identifiers, and National Drug CodesExposure to and knowledge of gold standard clinical care guidelines (HEDIS, PQA)Experience with Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) StandardsAbility to apply and interpret analytical and mathematical tools through the programming environment to address complex issues involving multiple table structures with complex query designsExperience manipulating complex datasets – in particular healthcare claims data.

Familiarity with ICD-9/10 diagnosis and procedures codes and CPT/HCPCS codes is a plusSAS Certified Clinical Trials Programmer Using SAS 9, SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9, SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS 9Master’s degree in technology, mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative disciplineSecurity Clearance RequirementsU.S.
