Funeral Director


This is a Contract position in Fairfax County, VA posted March 26, 2020.

Get on the ground floor of a rapidly growing Virginia-based startup Crematory helping families at one of the most difficult times of their lives – during the death of their loved one.

You’ll be responsible for the care, removal and transport and delivery of human remains in accordance with all state, local and company policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Perform on-call responsibilities including: Taking first calls, talking to families, conducting removal, confirming authorization to proceed with arrangements.

Greets and receives client families and/or other persons entering the office for information and assistance or pick up.

Maintains and manages the crematorium, equipment and facilities.

Handles contracts, legal documents, and collection of payment in accordance with company policies.

Maintains all company logs/reports and chain of custody paperwork required by federal, state, and local authorities.

Supervises and cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which include: verifying identification of the deceased, preparing cremated remains, including container selection, paperwork and identification procedures.

Drives company van to transport to and from various destinations within DC, Maryland and Virginia.

May sometimes arrange and conduct life celebration experiences in a professional, creative, organized and caring manner consistently.

Retains and grows market share through active involvement with community, religious and other organizations.

Receives and manages crematory supplies and inventory.

Promotes a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct.

Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the company’s vision, mission, and values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and suppliers REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Core Competencies Customer focus Communication Team work Quality orientation Problem Solving Accountability and Dependability Operating Equipment Ethics and Integrity Leadership Certification/License LeadeFuneral Directors License Valid Driver’s License with a Clean Driving Record Education High School or GED equivalent (preferred) Experience Relevant: 1 year (preferred) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs Profession al appearance required Ability to work with kindness and compassion for the deceased and their families Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations Able to work on a rotating on call schedule.

Open to possible emergency calls.

Weekend and night work may be required.
